PublicationsTransport and Liveability: The Path to a Sustainable VictoriaMelbourne sits at a crossroad. On one hand the practical evidence of climate change is mounting before us – droughts, storms, record temperatures. There is also increasing concern about the ability of global oil supplies to meet escalating demand at an affordable price and without unacceptable environmental or international consequences. On the other hand, governments – and would-be governments – are formulating policies on energy, transport and a host of other policy areas that will affect our futures and those of our children. This statement discusses some of the keys factors that will determine the liveability of Melbourne in the future.

Rising petrol prices are hurting our hip pockets, while people without cars are cut off from jobs and social events. Download our campaign leaflet (270k PDF) calling for transport minister Peter Batchelor and the Government to get on track!
The Place to be on PTThe affordability, accessibility, availability and effectiveness of Melbourne's public transport all need improving. However, the vision is about more than transport. On 17 June 2004, the Coalition of People's Transport published 'The Place to be on PT' – A Vision for Greater Melbourne's Transport. This vision for transport aims to achieve an equitable, sustainable, transport system for Greater Melbourne which allows everyone to get around easily. |
